Tianpanshan Primitive Ancient Forest Scenic Area

Tianpanshan Primitive Ancient Forest Scenic Area
The Tianpanshan Primitive Ancient Forest Scenic Area has an altitude of 1,888 meters and is situated 17.3 kilometers eastward along Xinyi Road in the eastern part of Yuanqu County. Nestled on the fringe of the Lishan primitive forest and forming a green tourism corridor alongside the Wangxian Three Pools Waterfall, it is a key eco-tourism base of Yuanqu County.

The scenic area rises vertically from 690 meters to 1,888 meters above sea level, featuring a terraced landscape including Hanging Spring Waterfall, Tianpan Ancient Forest, Tianchi (Heavenly Lake), Stone Figures, Stone Mirror, Crouching Dragon Spring, and Tiger Roar Spring. Each season paints the area with unique beauty—colorful blooms in spring, ancient trees and flowing springs in summer, red leaves covering the mountains in autumn, and icefalls and snow lotuses in winter. This is a forest oxygen bar for health and wellness, as well as a beautiful paradise on Earth. A summer resort and Anti-Japanese Armed Forces Memorial Hall have been built halfway up the mountain, while the mountaintop offers a viewing platform, Red Cliff Hanging Spring, Red Leaf Viewing Area, hunting grounds, wildlife park, and wild delicacy snacks. Here, you can stay in mountain villas, savor wild mountain cuisine, enjoy the ancient forest and hanging springs, and immerse yourself in both the romance of nature and the education of revolutionary history. Tianpanshan is truly a uniquely stunning modern mountain. Since 2005, it has welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors. Shunbao Eco-Tourism Company plans to further invest in building cable cars and elevators, restoring two large temples, developing a renowned mountain in North China that promotes the culture of Emperors Yao and Shun, offering a premium travel brand, and creating a pristine land and blue sky with a modern living environment.

Not only is Tianpanshan a place of breathtaking scenery, but it was also a key base for the anti-Japanese struggle of the Yuanqu County government. Countless revolutionary predecessors fought here, giving birth to many anti-Japanese heroes. Many heroes also sacrificed their lives here. It is the cradle of revolution, where aspiring individuals often climb the mountain to learn from the spirit of their predecessors, follow in the footsteps of the revolutionaries, traverse the guerrilla paths, and experience a red journey through the green cover.

Introduction to the Yuanqu County Revolutionary Base Memorial Hall

The Revolutionary Base Memorial Hall is located in the northeastern part of Yuanqu County, 25 kilometers from the county town. It sits between the Tianpanshan Scenic Area and the Wangxian Three Pools Waterfall Scenic Area, within the jurisdiction of Wangxian Village, Lishan Town. The museum began operations in 2005, took three years to complete, with a total investment of 2.1 million yuan, and officially opened on July 1, 2007.

In accordance with the spirit of the joint notice [2008] No. 2 issued by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Culture, and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage regarding the "Free Admission Policy for National Museums and Memorial Halls," and in response to the promotion of vigorous development and prosperity of socialist culture, the memorial hall has been open to the public free of charge since July 1, 2008. From its opening until November 30, 2009, it had received over 93,000 visitors.

The Revolutionary Base Memorial Hall covers an area of more than 6,800 square meters, with a construction area of 3,200 square meters. It is divided into three or five exhibition areas, featuring 36 exhibition rooms, over 500 square meters of murals, more than 300 authentic historical photographs, and over 891 collected cultural relics and exhibits.

The Revolutionary Base Memorial Hall is a subsidiary unit of Shunbao Eco-Tourism Development Co., Ltd. in Yuanqu County. The museum currently employs six staff members: one curator, two security guards who also manage the exhibits, two guides, and one archivist.

The Revolutionary Base Memorial Hall has been designated as a "Yuncheng City Patriotic Education Base" by Yuncheng City, a "Shanxi Province Science Education Base" by the Shanxi Provincial Association for Science and Technology, and a "Yuanqu County Youth Education Base" by the Yuanqu County Committee on the Care of the Next Generation. The "Revolutionary Base Memorial Hall" has opened new channels for red tourism in Yuanqu, filled a gap, and added a highlight. It aims to promote the revolutionary spirit of the martyrs of Yuanqu, inherit the virtues of Emperor Shun—morality, filial piety, benevolence, and kindness—and document the splendor of folk customs and ancient culture. Its goal is to establish a base for patriotic education, moral education, and traditional education.
