Laoheshan Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery

Laoheshan Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery is situated on the northern hillside of Laoheshan Town, Dongning County, Mudanjiang City. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Laoheshan Town government built it to honor the martyrs who lost their lives in the Anti-Japanese War, the Liberation War, and the Korean War. The Laoheshan Revolutionary Martyrs Monument was originally erected in 1946, but after more than 40 years of weathering, the monument had severely deteriorated. In 2007, the Laoheshan Town government raised over 180,000 yuan to rebuild the Revolutionary Martyrs' Tomb. The new site includes one monument and twelve martyrs’ graves. The front of the monument is inscribed with: “Revolutionary Martyrs Monument.” The back reads: “During the Anti-Japanese War and the Liberation War, revolutionary predecessors such as Li Qingtian laid down their lives here. The loyal bones rest beneath the yellow earth, while the Black Mountain sings praises of the heroes. On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army, the people of this revolutionary base specially erected this monument to inspire future generations to inherit the martyrs’ aspirations and strive to build a beautiful homeland.” Signed: The Communist Party Committee of Laoheshan Town and the People’s Government of Laoheshan Town, August 1, 2007. The newly rebuilt martyrs’ cemetery has become a patriotic education base for commemorating the martyrs and inspiring future generations.
