Seaside Park
Seaside Park, also known as East Lake Park, is situated on Dongyang North Street in Shuidong Town, Dianbai County, on the west side of the Shuidong Flood Prevention Dyke, next to Shuidong Port. Named for its location by the South China Sea, the park was first built in 1959. At the entrance, there is an oval flower bed. Inside the park, flowers and plants are arranged in neat rows, while coconut, banyan, and sunflower trees provide shaded areas. To the north of the park lies a triangular freshwater lake called “East Lake.” In the middle of the lake is an artificial island where the Lake Pavilion stands, featuring red pillars and green-tiled roofs. The pavilion has stone benches inside and stone seats outside. Arched bridges and winding paths connect the island to the lakeshore. In 1984, a 4-meter-high “Monument to Revolutionary Martyrs” was erected in the southwest part of the park. Every year during the Qingming Festival, numerous visitors come to pay their respects. In 1985, the East Lake Amusement Park was established, featuring a bumper car area and the “Lake Garden.” The Lake Garden is set up around the Lake Pavilion and includes a small convenience store, a tea house, an entertainment room, as well as water recreation facilities such as bumper boats, goose boats, pedal boats, and motorboats.
To the east of the park lies the Shuidong Flood Prevention Dyke, beyond which is Shuidong Port. On the dyke, you can watch the sunrise in the morning and admire the fishing lights at night. To the southeast of the park is a newly developed scenic garden area, featuring 10 acres of tropical trees such as betel palms and Bauhinia.
