Zuojigou
Introduction Zuojigou is situated approximately 13 kilometers southwest of Yanchi County in Ningxia. It is a naturally formed canyon, stretching around 7 kilometers in length and ranging from 2 to 10 meters in width. The canyon features unique geological landscapes on both sides: the northern bank lies on the Ordos Plateau, covered with continuous sand dunes and wild grasses, while the southern bank is part of the Loess Hilly Region, characterized by undulating mounds and ridges. The terrain along the canyon varies—sometimes steep, sometimes gentle. The steep sections are made up of striking red sandstone, while the gentler areas consist of glistening golden sands.
Within the canyon, streams flow continuously in spring, summer, and autumn, nourishing lush water plants. The stream forms over ten waterfalls of various sizes and shapes along different stretches, some just tens of centimeters high, others reaching over 3 meters. The exposed tree roots along the banks take on diverse and picturesque forms—resembling potted plants and surpassing root carvings in beauty, offering a delightful and awe-inspiring sight.
