The village of Lianghouzhuang has been cultivating red hawthorn for hundreds of years. Thanks to its unique geographical environment, the fruit is known for its large size, bright color, delicious taste, and rich content of trace elements. As early as the 1980s, it had already gained fame in major cities such as Beijing, Tianjin, and Tangshan.

Relying on this historical resource, Lianghouzhuang Village actively pursued the development of a signature village product, making red hawthorn a pillar industry for village prosperity and rural wealth. The village established the “Tianjin Shangalaha Red Hawthorn Planting Professional Cooperative,” which received strong support from the government in terms of policies and funding. The cooperative has since set up an online sales platform, registered the product trademark — “Shiba Gou,” and independently designed and produced product packaging. It also promoted and reported on Lianghouzhuang’s red hawthorn through multiple media channels. In addition, the cooperative actively developed “farm-to-supermarket” operations, opening “Shangalaha Local Specialty Product Sales Centers” in Tianjin and other areas; it also signed cooperation agreements with Jizhou Green Food Co., Ltd., enabling red hawthorn produced in Lianghouzhuang Village to be sold in the “One Village One Product” specialty stores. The red hawthorn from Lianghouzhuang continues to be sold at prices 1–2 times higher than those of similar products from other regions, reaching over ten provinces and cities nationwide. Furthermore, the cooperative has partnered with cultural and technical schools, inviting agricultural technicians and dispatched experts from the Municipal Science and Technology Commission to provide training and guidance to red hawthorn growers, ensuring continuous improvement in fruit quality.

Today, red hawthorn cultivation has become the dominant industry in Lianghouzhuang Village. The total planting area reaches 2,000 mu, yielding 2 million kilograms of high-quality red hawthorn per year. In 2010, the per capita net income of the village was 13,800 yuan, of which 9,050 yuan came from red hawthorn cultivation alone, accounting for 66% of the per capita income. At the same time, while achieving its own prosperity, the village also helped nearby villages develop their own red hawthorn plantations, covering a total of 1,000 mu, generating an additional income of 3 million yuan and increasing the per capita income by 500 yuan.
