Fangshan Golden Pear
The Golden Pear variety features round, slightly flattened fruits with golden-yellow skin, hence its name. Each pear typically weighs between 300–350 grams on average. The flesh is tender, the juice is abundant, and the soluble solid content is around 14.7%. It has a sweet and tangy flavor with an excellent taste profile.
The fruit ripens in mid to late September. This variety flowers very easily, is highly precocious, and can bear fruit in the second year after planting. In densely planted high-yield orchards (with 150–200 trees per mu), yields can reach up to 500 kilograms in the second year. However, tree growth demands relatively high levels of fertilizer and water. Excessive fruiting can lead to weakened tree vigor, so attention should be paid to proper thinning of flowers and fruits, maintaining a reasonable load, and ensuring good pollination tree combinations. Since this variety produces relatively little pollen, it is recommended to plant two compatible pollinator varieties. The Golden Pear commands a high market price and is currently one of the most expensive pear varieties in both domestic and international markets.
