Fresh corn on the cob
Fresh corn on the cob refers to tender, young corn with distinctive flavor and quality, also known as sweet corn. Compared to regular corn, it is characterized by being sweet, tender, soft, and aromatic. In terms of quality, it can be classified into sweet corn, supersweet corn, and sweet waxy corn; by kernel color, it includes black, purple, yellow, and white varieties. With the improvement of people's living standards, the market demand for fresh corn on the cob has been growing steadily, making preservation and processing especially important. Since the edible part of fresh corn is the immature, tender kernels, post-harvest respiration and metabolism are intense, sugar conversion occurs rapidly, and the kernels are prone to dehydration and spoilage. As a result, it is difficult to store for long periods. For extended storage or year-round market supply, quick-freezing preservation or vacuum packaging is necessary.
After Harbin Dongjin Group settled in Lanxi, it invested heavily in developing a fresh corn production line, introduced new and superior varieties, and planted them extensively in Kangrong Township, Lanxi County. The produce is now exported in large quantities overseas, showing very promising prospects.
