Kangrong muskmelon is a pillar industry of Kangrong Township, boasting a long planting history and rich cultivation experience. Located along the Hahei Highway in the Laha Hill area, the township features soil rich in organic matter, classified as calcareous black soil, which is highly suitable for muskmelon growth. During cultivation, large amounts of organic fertilizer are applied, and chemical fertilizers are avoided, making it a green, pollution-free food. As a result, Kangrong muskmelons are highly favored by customers in major cities across the province for their sweet taste, pure color, and excellent mouthfeel. The main varieties planted in Kangrong Township include Fuer, Qitian, Xiangshuai, and Hongcheng No. 5. With the goal of using minimal chemical fertilizer, maximizing farmyard manure, and striving to produce green, pollution-free products, the primary cultivation methods involve seedling cultivation in arch-shaped greenhouses and field planting with plastic mulching. Seedlings are transplanted around early April, with planting taking place in early May and harvesting beginning in early July. The annual muskmelon planting area in Kangrong Township exceeds 5,000 mu.
