Luobei Black Fungus is a geographical indication agricultural product.
The artificial cultivation of black fungus in Luobei County has a long history. According to the "Luobei County Annals," Volume 4 Agriculture, Chapter 7 Diversified Operations, Section 1 Household Diversified Operations – Cultivation of Black Fungus, it is recorded that “a 2-meter-long section of fungus log can yield 2–3 taels of black fungus, can be harvested continuously for 2–3 years, and generates a net profit of around 2 yuan per section. Cultivating black fungus is highly profitable with fast sales. The number of households cultivating black fungus in mountainous villages and towns has been increasing. In 1985, the county had 1.6 million fungus logs, including 800,000 in Huan Shan Township alone. Households cultivating black fungus accounted for 97% of the total farming households in Huan Shan Township. Income from black fungus made up 50% of the township’s per capita income, making it widely known as the ‘Fungus Township.’ In 1985, the township delivered 100,000 jin (50 metric tons) of black fungus, generating over 1.3 million yuan in value.” To date, the cultivation history spans more than 30 years.
Geographic Scope
Luobei County is under the jurisdiction of Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province, located in the northeastern part of Heilongjiang, at the junction of the southern foothills of the Lesser Khingan Mountains and the Sanjiang Plain. Its geographical coordinates are longitude 130°01′–131°34′ east and latitude 47°12′–48°21′ north. The county borders Russia’s Jewish Autonomous Oblast across the Heilongjiang River to the northeast, with a border stretching 146.5 kilometers; it connects to Jiayin County to the northwest; is bordered by Wutong River to the west, adjacent to Hegang City and Tangyuan County; and neighbors Suibin County to the east. The region spans 108 kilometers from east to west and 130 kilometers from north to south, covering a total area of 6,784 square kilometers. The protected production area of Luobei Black Fungus spans 175,522 hectares, including 63 administrative villages across 8 townships: Tuanjie Town, Fengxiang Town, Zhaoxing Town, Mingshan Town, Yunshan Town, Hebei Town, Dongming Township, and Taipinggou Township, as well as several state-owned forest farms under the county forestry bureau such as Jinmantun, Taipinggou, Damahé, Fengxiang, Yunshan, Yumihe, and Erlǐhé. Currently, the planted area of Luobei Black Fungus is 200 hectares, with an annual output of 1,500 tons.
Product Quality Characteristics
1. External Sensory Features: Luobei Black Fungus has a pure color, few veins on the back, and is shaped like a bowl or tea leaf. It has strong water resistance—after soaking in water for a week, the texture does not disintegrate, and the color remains bright and fresh. The fungus is thick, delicious, and aromatic, with excellent quality. 2. Internal Quality Indicators: Luobei Black Fungus is rich in nutrition, containing more than 10% crude protein, less than 2% crude fat, more than 4% crude fiber, over 55% total sugar, calcium content exceeding 290 mg/100g, iron content exceeding 60 mg/100g, and a dry-to-wet ratio greater than 1:10. 3. Safety Requirements: The product complies with the "National Food Safety Standard – Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticides in Food" (GB2763-2014) and the "National Food Safety Standard – Limits of Contaminants in Food" (GB2762-2012). 4. Packaging Materials: Packaging materials meet national hygiene standards—they must be clean, sturdy, free from pollution and odor, and labeled with the words “Luobei Black Fungus.” 5. Labeling: Users of the mark shall uniformly use the geographical indication on their products or packaging. 6. Transportation: Handle with care during loading, unloading, and transport to avoid compression. Transport vehicles and tools should be clean, hygienic, and free from contamination, and must not be mixed with other toxic or harmful goods. 7. Storage Facilities: Storage areas must be clean and hygienic, and must not be mixed with toxic or harmful substances. Choose environments that are light-proof, clean, cool, dry, and free from odor for storage, while also preventing mold and rodent infestation. Storage and transport shall comply with the "Standards for Storage and Transport of Pollution-Free Agricultural Products."
