According to the "Luobei County Annals," Volume 4, Agriculture, Section 2, Crops and Yields, under the Crops subsection: "In the 5th year of the Republic of China (1916), large-scale development began along the Heilongjiang River and on the plains of the Dulu River and Wutong River, where soybeans, wheat, corn, and rice were first planted. In the 4th year of the Republic of China (1915), around that time, over 80 ethnic Koreans who had relocated from Russian territory to Luobei cleared and cultivated land along the Yadan River and Dulu River to grow rice, achieving a bountiful harvest. In the 15th year of the Republic of China (1926), Cheng Rulin, the magistrate of Luobei County, strongly advocated for rice cultivation and personally planted 200 hectares of rice along the Yadan River. Inspired by him, Meng Yeyan planted 100 hectares in the Wutong River basin. Cheng Rulin planted 120 hectares in the Dulu River basin, Wang Ziyu planted 90 hectares along the Mahaha River, Qiu Yaoting planted 40 hectares along the Shili River, and Xu Zi’an planted 80 hectares in Guzhan—all achieving good yields." It has a history of over 100 years to this day.
Luobei County is located at the junction of the Sanjiang Plain and the Xiao Xing’an Mountains, with a rice planting area of 545,000 mu and an annual yield of over 300 million jin. Thanks to its fertile soil, excellent rice varieties, and mature farming techniques, "Luobei Rice" features plump, uniform grains with a clean, translucent appearance.
