　　The "Hometown of Ginseng" —— Fushun County, has vigorously developed the wild-grown ginseng industry, conducted research on the quality system of wild-grown ginseng, and pioneered the formulation of local standards for wild-grown ginseng nationwide, seizing the high ground in industrial development and taking a historic step toward a breakthrough for China’s ginseng industry.

　　　　Wild-grown ginseng, also known as Zi Hai, may have earned its name because out of hundreds of ginseng seeds scattered in the forest, only one might sprout and grow for years to eventually be harvested, becoming a ginseng delicacy comparable to wild mountain ginseng.

　　　　Fushun County is China’s “Hometown of Ginseng,” ranking first in both cultivated ginseng area and production nationwide. In the field of wild-grown ginseng development, Fushun is also a frontrunner, with over 50 years of history in the protection and cultivation of wild-grown ginseng. Especially in recent years, the county, with the premise of protecting natural resources, has focused on industrial upgrading and transformational development, vigorously implementing fenced protection for wild-grown ginseng. Currently, there are more than 340 wild-grown ginseng protection bases, with the retained area reaching 320,000 mu by the end of this year, showing broad prospects for future development.

　　　　Whether it is the growth and expansion of wild-grown ginseng or enhancing its international competitiveness, standardization is essential. Therefore, Fushun County, blessed with unique natural resources and a solid industrial development foundation, has concentrated efforts to collaborate with universities and research institutions to improve the quality evaluation system of wild-grown ginseng, promoting rapid development of the wild-grown ginseng industry in Fushun and surrounding areas. Since 2009, the county began preparatory work for the “Wild-Grown Ginseng Quality System Research” project, allocating over 800,000 yuan in special research funds, assembling expert panels, conducting the “Fushun Wild-Grown Ginseng Quality System Study,” and formulating the “Fushun Wild-Grown Ginseng Quality Standard” through this research.
