Ginseng from Wanliang Town
Wanliang Town in Fusong County, Jilin Province, is located at the foot of Changbai Mountain and by the Songhua River. It has built its economy around the cultivation, processing, and trade of ginseng. The town features nearly 1.2 million square meters of forest-grown ginseng cultivation area and is home to the Wanliang Changbai Mountain Ginseng Market — the largest and top-ranked ginseng specialty market in Asia and all of China.
There are 1,100 ginseng processing households, 536 year-round ginseng product processing households, 2,980 ginseng distribution businesses, 127 ginseng packaging factories, and 20 key national, provincial, municipal, and county-level agricultural industrialization leading enterprises in Wanliang Town. Its products are sold to over 30 provinces and regions including Changchun, Shenyang, Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, with more than 50 types of products exported to Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Vietnam, North Korea, South Korea, Singapore, Japan, Australia, and other countries and regions.
By fostering quality awareness, implementing standardized production, and emphasizing full-process safety monitoring for pollution-free products, Wanliang Town requires ginseng products to be graded and packaged for sale. Today, the ginseng industry in Wanliang is gradually shifting from providing raw materials and primary products to offering intermediate and premium-quality goods, and moving from scattered and extensive management toward an intensive “refined and premium ginseng industry.”
