Shuzheng Ginseng
The artificial cultivation of ginseng in Fusong County dates back to the first year of the Longqing era during the Ming Dynasty, boasting a history of 440 years. In 1995, it was designated by the state as the “Hometown of Chinese Ginseng,” ranking first among the “Hundred Specialties” named at that time. It is home to Asia’s largest ginseng trading market—the Wanliang Changbai Mountain Ginseng Market, which covers an area of 54,000 square meters. The market attracts and supports the trade of ginseng produced across a wide region, from Huanren and Xinbin in Liaoning in the west, to Hunchun in Yanbian in the east, and to the Greater and Lesser Khingan Mountains in Heilongjiang in the north. Its sales network spans over 30 countries and regions including the United States, Canada, Singapore, Japan, and Hong Kong.
Beigang Town is located in the northeastern part of Fusong County, Jilin Province, in the heart of the Changbai Mountains. With high forest coverage, it boasts abundant forest resources and a favorable ecological environment. Leveraging its locational and resource advantages, Beigang Town has continuously developed and expanded its township enterprises. Currently, Beigang Town (Shuzheng Ginseng) has been included in the list of the fourth batch of National Demonstration Villages and Towns for “One Village, One Product.”
