Hongluoxian Town, located at the foot of Hongluo Mountain, is famous for its dried tofu. The bustling Hongluoxian Market, renowned across the three northeastern provinces and two leagues and two cities of eastern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, attracts numerous merchants and thrives with vibrant buying and selling. Every visitor to the Hongluoxian Market makes sure to enjoy several meals of Hongluoxian Dried Tofu.
Hongluoxian Dried Tofu is celebrated for its “dryness, thinness, and fineness.” The so-called “dry” means the tofu is pressed firmly with very little moisture, making it quite dry; “thin” refers to each sheet being as thin as paper; and “fine” indicates that the tofu contains no bean dregs. These three qualities—“dry, thin, and fine”—are the hallmarks of Hongluoxian Dried Tofu.
Hongluoxian Dried Tofu is delicious no matter how you prepare it. The most famous dish is dried tofu rolled with green onions, while stir-fried dried tofu with hot peppers is especially flavorful. In hot weather, dried tofu served with cucumber as a cold dish helps cool and refresh, and in cold weather, pork stewed with dried tofu can leave you sweating from the heat. Because dried tofu suits all ages and is convenient to eat, it can be served to guests of all backgrounds.
