Hongluoxian Dried Tofu
Hongluoxian is located in the northern part of Lianshan District, at the foot of Hongluo Mountain, and is famous for its dried tofu. The bustling Hongluoxian Market, renowned across the three northeastern provinces, attracts numerous merchants and enjoys brisk buying and selling. Visitors to the market always make sure to try a meal of Hongluoxian Dried Tofu.
Hongluoxian Dried Tofu is known for being "dry, thin, and fine." "Dry" refers to the tofu being pressed firmly and being dry with relatively low moisture content; "thin" means each sheet is as thin as paper and can even be translucent in sunlight; "fine" indicates that the tofu contains no bean dregs, offering a delicious and fragrant taste. These three qualities—"dry, thin, and fine"—are the hallmarks of Hongluoxian Dried Tofu.
Hongluoxian Dried Tofu is delicious no matter how you prepare it. The most famous dish is dried tofu rolled with green onions, while stir-fried dried tofu with chili peppers is especially flavorful. In hot weather, a cold dish of dried tofu with cucumber helps cool and refresh, and in colder months, pork stewed with dried tofu is so hearty it can make you break into a sweat. Because dried tofu suits all ages and is convenient to eat, it can be served to anyone, regardless of status. Hongluoxian Dried Tofu rolled with green onions is one of Huludao’s signature local dishes.
Hongluoxian Town seized the business opportunity, developed and tapped into its potential, changed traditional production and business methods, and after multiple field trips and repeated evaluations, established a soy products company, beginning the path toward scaled operations. In production, without altering the traditional flavor of the dried tofu, they adopted a combination of manual and mechanical methods, operated in a closed environment, and strictly adhered to hygiene standards, resulting in dried tofu that is “dry, thin, fine, fragrant, and clean.” They also applied to the Beijing Administration for Industry and Commerce to register a trademark, officially branding the widely known Hongluoxian Dried Tofu under the name “Hongdouxiang.”
Now, “Hongdouxiang” Dried Tofu has entered major cities such as Beijing, Tianjin, Shenyang, and Dalian, with nearly a hundred agents and distributors selling it across the country. It sells around 340,000 kilograms annually, generating over 3.4 million yuan in output value, transforming this traditional product into a promising and growing industry.
