Have you ever tried black tea with fruity and honey notes that’s incredibly sweet? Some might ask, isn’t black tea all about the strong tea flavor—how could it possibly have fruity or honey notes? Actually, it does exist. Take, for example, Honey Fragrance Black Tea from Hualien, Taiwan.
Honey Fragrance Black Tea was developed by the Taitung Branch of the Tea Research and Extension Station and successfully produced locally in Wuhe, Ruisui Township, Hualien. It uses a small-leaf tea variety. During the tea plant’s growth, the leaves are bitten by small green leafhoppers, which gives the resulting black tea its unique fruity and honey aroma—truly distinctive.
Honey Fragrance Black Tea is great for cold brewing. The cold brew method is especially effective at fully extracting the essence of the tea leaves, resulting in a clear, distinct tea aroma and flavor that’s quite impressive. The brewing process is also very simple: the typical ratio of tea leaves to water is 1:66 to 1:100. Just mix the water and tea leaves, then refrigerate for 12 hours.
