Although all are part of the Musician Series and come from the same region and farm—the Canet Estate in the Tarrazú region of Costa Rica—these four coffee beans differ significantly in variety, post-harvest processing, and flavor.

The Beethoven Coffee Beans are of the Yellow Catuai variety, unlike the Mozart Coffee Beans which are H1 or the Bach Coffee Beans which are F1. The latter two are the result of over thirty years of manual hybrid selection and breeding, offering exceptional flavor.

Beethoven Coffee Beans are processed using the washed method common in Central and South America, resulting in more pronounced acidity. In contrast, the Mozart Coffee Beans use a raisin honey process or the Bach Coffee Beans use an anaerobic process, yielding a sweeter profile.

According to cupping tests by Front Street Coffee, the Beethoven Coffee Beans exhibit flavors of a sweet and diverse range of fruits—strawberry, apple, lemon, grape, and citrus—showcasing a rich, creamy smoothness along with a lingering aftertaste reminiscent of Indian Darjeeling black tea.
