Woka Coffee

Yirgacheffe (Yirga Cheffe) was originally a small town in Ethiopia, situated at an altitude of 1,700–2,100 meters, and has now become synonymous with Ethiopia’s specialty coffee. Many people love Yirgacheffe coffee for its elegant floral notes, bright acidity, and uniquely memorable flavor profile. In recent years, global coffee enthusiasts have discovered even more diverse yet still refined flavors across this expansive region, and Woka Cooperative is one of them.

Established in 2005, Woka Cooperative is composed of 305 farmers, cultivating approximately 763 hectares with an annual output of nearly 460 tons. It is a relatively small-scale farmer cooperative, affiliated with the YCFCU cooperative union. Located in a remote part of the Yirgacheffe producing area, the cooperative is 75 kilometers away from Dilla, the local coffee distribution hub. Road access is poor, with a 20-kilometer dirt road stretching from the cooperative to the main paved highway.

The coffee beans produced by Woka Cooperative are processed using the washed method, yielding beans that embody the characteristics of Yirgacheffe coffee while also possessing their own unique traits. When brewed by Front Street Coffee, Woka coffee offers tasting notes of lemon, plum, and Tieguanyin. As the temperature changes, caramel notes become prominent, complemented by bright acidity and a distinct aftertaste.
