As the coffee wave deepens, specialty coffee shops—those that love and are passionate about coffee and are dedicated to spreading fine coffee culture—bring people high-quality coffee beans, creating uniquely flavorful brews rather than the single-note profile of just rich and bitter.

Among them, the coffee beans from the Guodingding Cooperative in Ethiopia’s Yirgacheffe region have gradually gained recognition and won people’s favor. What’s the origin of the name “Guodingding Coffee Beans”? It’s actually a reflection of traceability in the coffee wave.
The Guodingding Cooperative is located in the southeastern part of Yirgacheffe, one of the world’s highest-altitude coffee-growing regions. It was originally part of the Woka Cooperative under the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU). Later, as the demand for traceability of green coffee beans grew, “single-origin” farms were one by one discovered by coffee enthusiasts around the world. In 2012, the Guodingding Cooperative, consisting of about 300 farmer members, was officially established.
The Guodingding Cooperative is known as the last pristine land in Yirgacheffe. The processing methods used for its green beans are also very traditional, including both washed and natural (sun-dried) processes. Washed Guodingding beans are cleaner with more pronounced acidity, while the natural process adds a touch of sweetness, with acidity not as prominent as in the washed version.
Take the Front Street Natural Guodingding, for example: its flavor profile is full-bodied overall, with strong fermentation notes and prominent tropical fruit flavors. As the temperature changes, berry and cream notes emerge, and the lingering aftertaste leaves a long-lasting citrusy sweet-and-sour sensation on the palate.
