Yunnan Baoshan Xinhua Soap Factory, originally established in the early 1950s as a state-owned enterprise producing daily chemical products, has now been restructured into a shareholding cooperative enterprise. It is one of the soap manufacturers designated by the former Ministry of Light Industry in Yunnan. Since the reform and opening-up, the enterprise has relied on science and technology, boldly innovated, continuously adjusted its product structure to offer marketable new products and expand its market. Building on the brand strength of its traditional products, it has also developed five major categories comprising fifteen varieties of new products—including shampoo, dishwashing detergent, soap powder, laundry starch, and phosphate-free highly concentrated laundry detergent—which have been well received by consumers.

Gongnong Soap was originally named "Lihua" (Pear Blossom), but the Lihua trademark has now been changed to "Gongnong." It is a green, natural product with a history of over fifty years, made from purely natural plant ingredients—mainly Xiangguo oil—and produced using a unique process. Xiangguo oil is a wild plant oil rich in lauric acid and has a natural fragrance. Coupled with a rational formula and advanced production techniques, it ensures high consumption efficiency, complete saponification, and abundant fatty acids in the soap base. Compared to other soaps, Gongnong Soap features strong cleaning power, versatile foam, excellent stability, a refreshing and smooth feel, easy rinsing, and safe usability. In 1997, it was named one of the top ten famous trademarks in Baoshan Prefecture, and after inspection by the national light industry authorities, it was recognized as an outstanding light industrial product in China. Aside from partial local sales, most of the soap is sold to surrounding areas such as Nujiang Prefecture, Dehong Prefecture, Lincang Region, Simao Region, as well as beyond the province in cities like Kunming and provinces such as Guizhou and Jiangsu. It also enters neighboring countries Myanmar and India through border trade markets. The soap now enjoys widespread fame both within and outside the province, and is renowned across southwestern Yunnan. (Baoshan)
