Rong'an Moso Bamboo
Moso bamboo, also known as nanmu bamboo, is abundantly produced in Rong'an, Rongshui, Sanjiang, and Jinxiu, among which Rongshui has the largest yield, producing about 800,000 poles annually. The bamboo culms have dense tissue, are large in size with long internodes, and are of high quality — tough, durable, and elastic. It is an excellent material for making furniture, farm tools, bamboo wares, scaffolding, trellises, and paper, and can even replace steel bars in small-sized concrete structures. Its shoots are delicious and edible, the bamboo tips can be made into brooms, and the bamboo sheaths can be used for packaging. In the past, the bamboo paper produced in Rongshui, made from local moso bamboo, was famous far and wide and once won an international silver award.
