Product History: Two hundred years ago, Wuyou Early was a wild tea plant growing on Changjialing Mountain between Banling Village in Oubei Town and Lingxia Village in Wuniu Town, downstream of the Nanxi River in Yongjia County. It was discovered by Elder Jin Zehong from Longtou Village in Oubei Town during a Spring Festival visit to relatives, who transplanted it to his home. After generations of careful cultivation, it was processed into pan-fired green tea. Due to its early harvest time and superior quality, it became highly popular among tea merchants both in China and abroad. Since the reform and opening-up, the Party and government have emphasized the importance of variety resources and organized their development. In 1988, with approval from the Provincial Science and Technology Commission and hosted by the Department of Agriculture, it was officially named Yongjia “Wuyou Early” Tea.
