Trace polysaccharides in seaweed have been shown to have anti-cancer effects, and seaweed is also rich in choline, which can help improve memory decline when consumed regularly.
Wenzhou seaweed farming is mainly distributed across Cangnan and Dongtou counties, with Cangnan County alone having over 30,000 mu of seaweed farming area, producing more than 5,000 tons annually, with an output value exceeding 150 million yuan. In recent years, the county’s seaweed farming techniques and models have continued to innovate. With the promotion and application of improved seed breeding, high-yield farming techniques, disease control, and seaweed product processing technologies, seaweed production has become a local specialty. In 2003, it was even named the “Hometown of Seaweed in China” by the National Ministry of Agriculture.
While achieving large-scale farming, Wenzhou seaweed has also expanded into the field of deep product processing. Products such as the “Ansheng” and “Xingbei” series have now been awarded the title of “Assured Agricultural Product” by Wenzhou City.
