The Locust Tree Cave Scenic Area is located at the foot of Baishan Mountain, 28 kilometers south of Chaoyang City and 1.3 kilometers west of the Chaqing Road, covering an area of 57 square kilometers.

As early as the Hongshan Culture period, our ancestors developed this precious land. Through the dynasties of Xia, Shang, Zhou, Spring and Autumn, Warring States, Qin, and Han, and by the time of the Sui and Tang dynasties, buildings began to appear here, flourishing especially during the Liao Dynasty. During the Jin and Yuan periods, many tourists from Jinzhou, Xingcheng, and other places came here for sightseeing and to escape the summer heat. By the Qing Dynasty, large-scale construction was carried out to renovate the temples, and incense burning flourished.

Due to the presence of temples and pagodas, abundant water and forests, and a pleasant climate, the area attracted a large number of spontaneous visitors even before development. Now, the local government has established a dedicated “Locust Tree Cave Natural Scenic Area Management Office” and has carried out development and construction planning. Infrastructure such as transportation, postal services, and communications will be completed within this year. As scenic spots gradually increase and visitor numbers grow, the related tertiary industries are also developing.

The scenic area features numerous uniquely shaped rocks and mountains, with cool and refreshing springs known as the “Divine Dragon’s Sacred Water.” In addition, there is a stone pagoda built during the Liao Dynasty, which is exquisitely crafted and uniquely styled, and is a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit. The temple, named “Yongquan Temple,” consists of four halls: the Sakyamuni Buddha Hall, the Guanyin Hall, the Medicine King Hall, and the Dragon King Hall, all of which are Liao Dynasty structures.
