Liucheng Site

The Liucheng Site is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Liaoning Province.

The Liucheng Site is situated on the terrace on the right bank of the Dalin River in Yuantaizi Village, Liucheng Subdistrict, Chaoyang County, Liaoning Province. The current site extends roughly 400 meters from east to west and about 200 meters from north to south. Owing to erosion by the Dalin River and large-scale soil removal by brick factories, most of the site has been damaged, resulting in an outer arc-shaped cliff face with abundant cultural deposits such as pottery fragments and rubble. Within a 200-meter range to the east and west of the Western Han Dynasty remains, relics of daily life structures such as wells, storage pits, granaries, and pottery kilns have been discovered. A significant number of iron farming and hand tools, as well as some weapons, have also been unearthed.

In addition, unearthed artifacts indicate that the Yan State’s “Youcheng” from the Warring States period was the predecessor of the Han Dynasty’s Liucheng.

In 2007, the Liucheng Site was designated by the Liaoning Provincial Government as part of the seventh batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites in Liaoning Province, listed as No. 29.

Protected area: A 400-meter radius centered on the site’s core (120°25′18″E, 41°29′23″N).

Construction control zone: A Zone I control area within 50 meters outside the protected area, and a Zone II control area within 30 meters outside the Zone I control area.
