Longevity Mountain is located in Dongshang Village, Dachengzi Town, Kazuo County. In the height of summer, the mountain is shaded by lush green trees, dense with vegetation, with murmuring springs and fragrant flowers accompanied by birdsong. It was here that Kang Taizhen encountered an immortal and began his Taoist practice. Kang Taizhen, a native of Lizhou (now Kazuo County), with the secular surname Kang and the Taoist name Taizhen, also known as Cloud Peak Real Man, was a highly influential Taoist during China’s Jin and Yuan periods. His remains are buried in Longevity Mountain in Dongshang Village, Dachengzi Township, Kazuo County. Both Kang Taizhen’s tomb and its memorial stele have been designated as provincial-level key cultural relics protection units.

Throughout the long course of history, although the ancient Changle Temple on Longevity Mountain has experienced periods of rise and decline, its incense has never ceased. In 2002, the construction of the “Protectorate Pilu Buddhist Temple” began on Longevity Mountain, covering an area of about 500 square meters. The elegant, antique-style buildings are nestled within the mountain. The white marble memorial archway of Pilu Temple adds splendor to this famous mountain. Beneath the archway stand majestic white marble stone lions. Facing them is a dark jade stele, five meters tall and 1.5 meters wide, inscribed with the four characters “Bodhi Dojo,” handwritten by Zhao Puchu, former president of the Buddhist Association of China—making it the tallest stone stele in Northeast China. The carvings and patterns on the stele are exquisitely detailed, while the reverse side features an inscription commemorating the temple’s restoration. The Eight Treasures Lotus Pond, Heavenly King Hall, Abbot’s Quarters, and Pagoda Courtyard all feature unique designs and rigorous structures. The stele pavilion houses the provincial cultural relic — the Kang Taizhen Memorial Stele. The Longevity Pavilion enshrines a Northern Wei Dynasty stone reclining Buddha, which is extremely precious. The Universal Light Hall houses the Five-directional Vairocana Buddha, the tallest copper Buddha in China.

Longevity Mountain is located in Dongshang Tourism Village on Dachengzi Street. It is a culturally renowned mountain, home to the provincial cultural relic — the Kang Taizhen Memorial Stele. The village’s thousand-mu jujube orchard is widely known for producing jujubes with bright color and delicious taste. Due to its profound cultural heritage and abundant natural resources, the mountain is regarded by visitors as a place to pray for longevity and peace. Dongshang Village has been recognized by the Liaoning Provincial Tourism Bureau as a “Liaoning Tourism Professional Village” and was awarded the title of “Top Ten Rural Tourism Areas in Liaoning Province” in 2011.

The Kang Taizhen Memorial Stele is a provincial-level key cultural relic protection unit. It is the epitaph of Kang Taizhen, a Taoist priest from the Jin Dynasty, erected in the early Yuan Dynasty. Despite centuries of weathering, the more than 2,000-character engraved inscription remains clearly legible. Kazuo is thus honored as the “Land of the Golden Tripod,” a title derived from this very stele. Kang Taizhen was a highly influential Taoist during China’s Jin and Yuan periods. He lived to be 92 years old, preached Taoism for over 70 years, and had over a thousand disciples, truly earning the title of the “Longevity” Taoist master. The Immortal’s Footprints are two deep, foot-shaped cavities on the bluestone at the summit of Longevity Mountain, each about two feet deep and one foot long. Legend says they are the footprints of the immortal who taught Kang Taizhen when he was young, hence the name — Immortal’s Footprints.

In spring, the yellow jujube blossoms across the thousand-mu jujube valley are intoxicating, with their faint fragrance evoking a sense of nostalgia. The tiny jujube blossoms, as small as grains of rice, carry the heartfelt essence of Kazuo to you along with their enchanting aroma. In autumn, the mountains are covered with tempting red jujubes. Locals liken them to longevity fruits and make various jujube-based foods such as jujube steamed buns, jujube rice, jujube cakes, jujube layer cakes, jujube flower rolls, jujube tea soup, jujube paste buns, as well as preserved jujubes, roasted jujubes, stuffed jujubes, etc., for personal enjoyment, banquets, or as gifts for guests.

Dachengzi Street: Dachengzi Town is located on the western bank of the Dalin River in the central part of Harqin Left Wing Mongolian Autonomous County, Kazuo. It is the seat of the Kazuo County People’s Government and serves as the political, economic, and cultural center of the entire county.

Dachengzi Town is situated in the hilly region of western Liaoning and enjoys convenient transportation. The provincial highway Jiansan Line passes through the town, and the town’s east, west, and south exits are all 24-meter-wide asphalt roads. The town is within 30 kilometers of both the north-south railway lines, all of which have paved roads, making access very convenient.
