Wafangdian Reservoir

This is Wafangdian Reservoir. It is hailed as a shining pearl in the mountainous area of Kazuo. It looks just like an artificial lake, equipped with various tourist facilities that allow visitors to go boating and enjoy the scenery. The surrounding mountains are planted with pear trees, jujube trees, torch trees, lilac trees, locust trees, poplars, pines, cypresses, and weeping willows. The tourism infrastructure is well-developed, and efforts to beautify, scent, and purify the reservoir environment have been intensified, giving the reservoir a completely renewed look. Coming to Wafangdian Reservoir and immersing oneself in the real mountains and waters, everything feels so novel and refreshing: the blue sky is clear, all the trees are thriving; the water surface is like a mirror, and the air is crisp. Boating on the lake, the boat cuts through the calm water, offering breathtaking views of the mountains and water. Surrounded by hills and water, the view is vast and expansive, truly giving the feeling of “a serene lake emerging from high gorges.”

The reservoir presents different scenery in each of the four seasons. When the spring breeze brings warmth and the ice and snow begin to melt, the slopes and valleys gradually turn from yellow to green. Apricot blossoms bravely bloom despite the lingering chill. Pines and cypresses bathe in the gentle breeze, swaying their tender green leaves. Some early spring wildflowers dot the landscape like tiny flames or fragments of rosy clouds. The reservoir is full of vitality and vigor.

In the peak of summer, the reservoir is shrouded in mist, with emerald waves reflecting the sunlight, wildflowers blooming in profusion, and willows and poplars swaying gracefully. No matter how hot the weather may be, a cool breeze always blows here. Boating on the water will refresh your mind and eyes. On summer nights, the reservoir exudes a fragrant aroma that fills the lungs. Moonlight shines through the pine trees, and clear springs flow over the rocks. Everything appears hazy, carrying a touch of mystery and a hint of otherworldly charm.

In autumn, the reservoir is graced with the refreshing autumn wind and the fragrance that wafts through the mountains. Torch trees cover the hillsides in patches, resembling burning clouds. Mountain hawthorns, grapevines, clusters upon clusters; yellow pears, red dates, heavy and abundant, hang from the trees all over the mountains. Here, you can find a variety of colors—red, orange, yellow, and green—and flavors—sour, sweet, bitter, and astringent—to pick and taste.

In the depths of winter, when the cold north wind sweeps across the reservoir, a thick layer of glistening white ice forms on the water’s surface. The mountains and hills are draped in silvery white, appearing tranquil and solemn, exceptionally enchanting.

The four-season scenery of the reservoir is infinitely charming, bringing peace and delight to the heart.
