Situated among the mountains between Liuguanyingzi Town and Dayingzi Township, Waterside Homes is a tourist resort developed based on the Wafangdian Reservoir. It combines experience, flood control, leisure, and sightseeing. The area boasts stunning scenery, verdant surrounding hills, and a steady flow of tourists. Within the resort lies a Buddhist sanctuary—Qing’an Temple—set against mountains and facing the water. This is the temple where the Vice President of the Hong Kong Buddhist Association, Venerable Shi Yongxing, ordained. Originally located west of Tiancheng Temple in Dachengzi, it has now been relocated here. The environment is serene, with grand, soaring temple pavilions, magnificent architecture, and exquisite painted beams and carved rafters that are a feast for the eyes. Amid the curling incense and the sounds of Buddhist chants and temple bells, gazing at the benevolent and solemn Buddha statues inspires a sense of peace and blessing, offering a true spiritual cleansing. The viewing platform is the best spot to take in the full panorama of the reservoir. Standing atop it, you can gaze into the distance and take in the breathtaking beauty of the entire scenic area. To the west: green mountains embrace the area, lush cypresses stand gracefully, pavilions reach skyward, the temple glows with charm, and the Waterside Homes resort complex shines with its bright, attractive buildings. On the 400-meter-long pedestrian walkway, dozens of wooden pavilions shelter visitors from all over, some strumming guitars and singing with abandon, others gathering around barbecue grills to share drinks and laughter, and still others reading or browsing newspapers leisurely. To the north: fish ponds are lined up, their surfaces shimmering, while restaurants are shaded by green trees. To the east: a stretch of green mountains lies by the water’s edge, with pavilions standing proudly atop the peaks and verdant pines covering the slopes. To the south: the wide expanse of water is picturesque, with endless blue waves, the sky and white clouds reflected in the mirror-like surface of the reservoir. Visitors paddle boats through the waves, enjoying the thrill of exploration; fishing enthusiasts set up umbrellas, cast their lines, and relax in peaceful contentment.

In spring, as life awakens, you can enjoy the poetic charm of birds chirping and the vibrant energy of the season—the scenery will make you want to linger. In the height of summer, the misty waters, sunlit blue waves, blooming wildflowers, graceful willows, lush mountains, and drifting white clouds offer a distinct taste of the Jiangnan water town. In autumn, the reservoir brims with water, and the setting sun casts a golden glow across the surface, with the surrounding mountains reflected in the coppery mirror of the water, creating a natural painting. In winter, the reservoir becomes a world of ice and snow, with the frozen surface shining brilliantly under the sunlight. When snowflakes flurry, this otherwise desolate season takes on a touch of romance and warmth amid the laughter and joy in the resort’s hotels.
