Kazuo has abundant purple clay resources, with reserves reaching 1 billion tons. The purple clay pottery industry in Kazuo has a history of over 6,000 years, and the modern purple clay industry here spans nearly a century. Kazuo is honored as the “Capital of Northern Purple Clay.” The purple clay industry is one of the six major light industries in Liaoning and one of the ten key cultural tourism industries in Chaoyang. The Purple Clay Art Sightseeing and Experience Park will leverage the brand platform of the “Capital of Northern Purple Clay” to focus on developing projects such as a purple clay culture park, logistics base, shopping center, artisan workshops, skills training, hands-on simulations, ancient kiln tours, and tea art demonstrations. It strives to build a distinctive, fully industrialized, and highly influential tourist destination integrating sightseeing, shopping, and hands-on craft experiences.

The Purple Clay Cultural Tourism Industrial Park in Kazuo County has a total investment of 1.786 billion yuan. It mainly includes the construction of a purple clay cultural park, logistics base, shopping center, artisan workshops, simulation operations, ancient kiln visits, and tea art displays. It is being developed into a comprehensive tourist attraction that combines process observation, hands-on production, and product display & sales. Currently, the first phase of the project — the Purple Clay Cultural Park — has been completed, with 95 enterprises settled in and hundreds of distinctive tourism souvenirs developed. Four editions of the Purple Clay Culture and Art Festival have been successfully held in the park, continuously enhancing the visibility and reputation of the scenic area and its signature purple clay tourism products.

The industrial park has been meticulously planned and divided into four major functional zones: architectural ceramics, industrial ceramics, daily-use and art ceramics, and comprehensive services.

Architectural Ceramics Functional Zone. As the leading industry within the Kazuo purple clay industrial cluster, architectural ceramics focus on products such as split bricks, clay panels, and exterior wall insulation boards. With market development as the key driver, the zone continues to attract large-scale, high-impact pillar enterprises to accelerate growth, achieve economies of scale, and establish Kazuo County as the largest architectural ceramics production base in northern China.

Industrial Ceramics Functional Zone. Industrial ceramics, as the leading industry during the mid-stage development of Kazuo’s purple clay sector, emphasize the development of new types of industrial ceramic products for applications in defense, chemical engineering, metallurgy, electronics, machinery, aerospace, aviation, biology, medicine, and more, with gradual expansion underway.

Daily-Use and Art Ceramics Functional Zone. Serving as a refined development vehicle for Kazuo’s purple clay cultural industry and a platform to build the most influential “Capital of Purple Clay” in northern China, this zone focuses on premium artistic collectibles such as wine sets, tea sets, flower pots, vases, purple clay teapots, purple clay murals, clay sculptures, and black pottery sculptures. It actively promotes development to establish the Kazuo purple clay cultural brand and enhance the region’s fame.

Comprehensive Services Functional Zone. Centered around the “Capital of Northern Purple Clay” and Shenglong Logistics, this zone integrates hotels, convention centers, office buildings, teaching facilities, R&D centers, commercial-residential spaces, tourism attractions, leisure shopping, e-commerce, and warehousing & logistics into a comprehensive service hub.

Since its opening, the Purple Clay Cultural Tourism Industrial Park has continuously improved its infrastructure and supporting facilities according to development needs, upgrading the overall park environment. A 4,800-square-meter visitor service center has been built in the core area, with other sub-areas also equipped with visitor centers of varying sizes. Currently, the entire tourism park has established standardized flush public toilets, parking lots, scenic signage, trash bins, and other tourism infrastructure, which continue to be enhanced on the existing foundation, achieving broad coverage across all service areas. With the gradual improvement of infrastructure and supporting facilities, the Purple Clay Cultural Tourism Industrial Park is receiving an increasing number of visitors and enjoys very broad development prospects.
