Nantianmen Forest Park is located in Baobei Gully Forest Area in the southeastern part of Helin County. It is 7 kilometers from downtown Helin, covers a total area of 75,000 mu, and has an altitude of over 2,300 meters. It is an excellent tourist destination for hiking, summer retreats, and getting close to nature. The scenic area features parking lots, walking trails, and rest pavilions for visitors. Here, you’ll find precipitous canyons, roaring streams, overlapping mountain ridges, rich vegetation, and a diverse array of birds and animals. The area is also abundant in mineral resources, medicinal herbs, and wild vegetables. It serves as a natural botanical garden, with over 500 recorded plant species. The forests and grasslands are lush and layered, offering scenic views in all four seasons: blooming wildflowers in spring, shady green trees in summer, fiery red leaves in autumn, and snow-dusted branches in winter. Nantianmen is also a natural zoo, where birds sing in chorus, roe deer roam, and wild boars dash about. More than 50 species of wild animals have been identified here, including more than ten types under national first- and second-class protection. Marshal He Long once traveled across the country and passed through Nantianmen at night, leaving behind poetic verses. It is also a renowned site for red tourism.
