Summer and autumn are peak seasons for domestic tourism. In recent years, summer travel has gradually diversified. After visiting famous mountains and rivers across the country, travelers are now turning their attention to places where they can discover beauty. Through a friend’s recommendation, I learned about such a place — the Jungar Temple Tourist Area. Upon first hearing about its uniquely distinctive religious and cultural architecture complex, I set off on a journey to Ordos with the hope of discovering beauty.

Ancient Temples, Renewed Faces; Legends Reborn

Beyond the mystery of the architecture, Jungar’s long history has also left behind numerous legends and stories. These include tales of eminent monks in meditation, white foxes carrying pillars, the destruction of temples by Ligdan Khan, the magical dragon pillar, and the “mother and son” Xanthoceras sorbifolium trees. Some of these stories carry moral teachings, while others are historical anecdotes. Amazingly, traces of these stories can be found within the temple, making them feel incredibly real.

Four-Season Wellness, Cultivating Body and Mind

The Jungar Temple Tourist Area enjoys fresh air, with an average summer temperature of around 21 degrees Celsius. Out of 365 days a year, about 300 days have good weather, making it an ideal destination for those suffering from intense heat and smog. The area innovatively combines the essence of Tibetan Buddhism — Mongolian-Tibetan medicine and traditional Chinese medicine — to offer a range of services including the Sino-Mongolian-Tibetan Wellness Center. After sightseeing, staying overnight, enjoying a relaxing medicinal bath, eating a vegetarian meal, and attending a lecture on traditional Chinese culture allows time to slow down, offering a chance to fully immerse oneself in communion with nature and ancient culture.

The Jungar Temple Tourist Area may not have the bustling crowds of famous temples, but it attracts those who prefer quiet seclusion and spiritual cultivation. This unique charm deeply appeals to people like me, a feeling that can only be truly understood by being there in person. Now is the best season in Jungar Temple. Friends with travel plans in the near future might consider experiencing this uniquely flavored trip to rejuvenate the body and mind. What could be more worth looking forward to than that?
