Daxi Pengsigge Temple, commonly known as the West Temple, is located 10 kilometers east of Altan Emel Town, the seat of the banner. It is a Yellow Sect Buddhist monastery. Built in 1854 during the Qing Dynasty’s efforts to consolidate control over the Manchu and Mongolian regions by promoting Buddhism and constructing temples across the area, the temple suffered severe damage during the Cultural Revolution. It was fully restored in 1985 and has since been listed as a key cultural relic protection unit by the People's Government of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. A grand temple fair is held here annually on the sixth day of the fourth and sixth lunar months, each lasting one week.

It is 118 kilometers from Manzhouli and 82 kilometers from the Arxan Port. Covering a total area of 1,543 square kilometers, the town administers 5 neighborhood committees and 6 sum party branches, and has a population of nearly 20,000, comprising 11 ethnic groups including Mongolian, Han, Daur, Ewenki, Oroqen, Hui, and Manchu.
