Vote for new island-rounding travel styles—support new bus passengers and win great gifts

What’s the best way to go on an “island-rounding” journey? The Ministry of Transportation’s “99 Taiwan Trip ─ Public Transport Island-Rounding Journey” is calling for creative island-rounding plans from people all over Taiwan. Participants use intercity buses, coaches, trains, and high-speed rail to explore the island. The competition offers a top prize of NT$100,000, with hundreds of teams vying for the title. From the fierce competition, 20 creative plans were selected. A “New Bus Passengers Online Vote” is now underway from now until November 10th, and voters also have a chance to win a NT$2,000 EasyCard or a NT$2,000 Taiwan Smart Card.

“99 Taiwan Trip ─ Public Transport Island-Rounding Journey” selected four major themes: “Moving Group,” “Passenger-Loving Group,” “Frugal Group,” and “KUSO Group,” featuring a total of 20 island-rounding new bus passenger teams. Each group showcases great creativity—from exploring Taiwanese culture or dreaming of opening a homestay in the ‘Moving Group,’ to traveling the whole island via road transport only in the ‘Passenger-Loving Group,’ to spending less than NT$2,000 to complete a 5-day island round-trip in the ‘Frugal Group,’ and even dressing up as the Third Prince and Jesus for a humorous island tour in the ‘KUSO Group.’

Participants in this project include not only passionate youths but also a 70-year-old elderly couple who made it to the finals, showing how people of all ages can show creativity in traveling around the island via public transport. Every vote cast on the event website earns one lottery entry—the more you vote, the higher your chances of winning—with a total of 55 prizes available. Additionally, the most popular new bus passenger plan based on the online vote will also receive a NT$10,000 bonus.
