Located at the foot of the Western Hills, Beijing Shooting Range boasts a beautiful environment and fresh air. It serves as the training and competition base for both the Chinese Shooting Team and the Chinese Archery Team. To integrate competitive sports with public fitness, Beijing Shooting Range has successively established the Shooter Entertainment City and the Archery Entertainment Park. To cater to the public’s interest in shooting and archery and provide them with an opportunity to try these sports, the two entertainment venues offer a variety of activities tailored to participants’ different skill levels. Whether you’ve never held a gun or drawn a bow, or are a beginner full of enthusiasm, there’s no need to feel constrained—sometimes in competitive arenas, participation matters just as much as the contest itself. After a busy week, coming here to experience “live ammunition” shooting or “drawing a bow and letting loose an arrow” is the perfect way to relax and unwind. The Shooter Entertainment City and the Archery Entertainment Park operate every day, including holidays, and provide services all day long.

Beijing Shooting Range will continue to serve as a venue for shooting competitions during the 2008 Olympics. Therefore, the Beijing municipal government will expand the existing site and construct new indoor pistol and rifle shooting ranges, as well as a main administrative building. The buildings will be constructed using environmentally friendly and recyclable materials, and will incorporate solar power generation, water recycling systems, natural lighting, and advanced electronic communication systems, giving this historic shooting range a new lease on life.

The construction of the new indoor shooting range and the administrative center is scheduled to commence in March 2005 and be completed by December 2006, with an estimated construction budget of US$37.91 million. Additionally, US$4.4 million will be allocated to renovate the skeet shooting range, ensuring all facilities meet the requirements of future Olympic Games.

Beijing Shooting Range is 19 kilometers from the Olympic Village and will be directly connected via a highway, reachable in a 20-minute drive. The finals spectator stands can accommodate 2,500 fixed seats, the qualification competition venue can hold 6,500 people, and the outdoor skeet field can accommodate 5,000 temporary seating installations.
