Hongguang Scenic Area Hongguang Scenic Area is located 8 kilometers west of the city center, facing Xiushui Scenic Area across the river. It gets its name from the broken bridge left after the Wuxing Bridge, which leads to Woniuhe Town, was washed away by floods. The wide Yalu River winds southward, with thunderous waves, splashing water, and a breathtaking view where water and sky merge into one. Strolling up to the small solitary hill on the west bank and looking down at the Woniuhe River flowing from the east instantly refreshes the mind and broadens the spirit; gazing into the distance at Tianbai Mountain, one sees towering cliffs and undulating valleys, with winding paths leading to serene spots. Upon reaching Heishishan — the so-called “place where there seems to be no way out” — you’ll encounter another scenic broken bridge. The riverbank, shaped as if by the hands of gods, forms steep cliffs and precipices. The surging river sparkles with clear waves, backed by lush distant mountains and scattered trees, while birds sing in the quiet valleys, creating a scene poetic and picturesque. “Dense woods hold lingering freshness, distant peaks hide half the sun.” After the rain, the broken bridge is shrouded in misty drizzle, with water vapor lingering and the vast forests of mountains appearing and disappearing in the haze. Visiting the broken bridge at this time will immerse you in the majestic and exquisite beauty of the mountain and water scenery. Only that visitors often shy away due to the rain and thus miss out on its unique charm. Based on expert advice, the Broken Bridge Scenic Area has been renamed Banbi Mountain Scenic Area.
