The first National Youth Snowboard Halfpipe Championship to be held in Inner Mongolia will grandly take place at Jinlongshan Ski Resort in Zhalantun City on the morning of the 31st. The two-day competition will conclude in the afternoon of New Year's Day 2012.
The competition is organized by the Winter Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, and co-hosted by the Inner Mongolia Winter Sports Management Center, Hulunbuir Sports Bureau, and the People’s Government of Zhalantun City, with support from the Zhalantun Municipal Bureau of Culture, Sports, Radio, Television and Tourism, and Jinlongshan Ski Resort. Teams from sports colleges and provincial snow training centers in provinces such as the People’s Liberation Army, Heilongjiang, Xinjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning will send athletes to compete.
It is reported that the competition will follow the national "Snowboard Halfpipe Competition Rules," and all participants were born after January 1, 1993. Sixteen male athletes and twenty-one female athletes will take turns completing individual technical difficulty moves, required technical variety moves, and freestyle routines over the two-day competition at the halfpipe venue.

On-site spectators will witness athletes performing a series of high-difficulty and spectacular moves, including frontside air rotations with grabs, backside air rotations with grabs, frontside "swings" with grabs, switch frontside 360-degree air rotations with grabs, frontside 540-degree air rotations with grabs, frontside "swings" in the air with grabs, air rotations with grabs, alley-oop 360-degree (or more) grabs, and flips of 180 degrees (or more) with grabs.
Jinlongshan Ski Resort, which is striving to become the most attractive ski resort in Northeast Asia, has a mountain elevation of 582 meters, a vertical drop of 200 meters, and an average winter temperature of -12°C. Located at a similar latitude to internationally renowned ski resorts, it is one of China’s top ski resorts with significant terrain variation. The national snowboard team trained here last year in preparation for this year’s National Championships and the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
Zhalantun City, the only national-level scenic area in Inner Mongolia, boasts picturesque scenery throughout all four seasons. Having successfully hosted three editions of the Jinlongshan Ski Festival, this marks the first time Inner Mongolia has hosted the National Youth Snowboard Halfpipe Championship. The event will not only promote the advancement of national fitness initiatives but also have profound significance in enhancing the visibility and reputation of Zhalantun City, Hulunbuir City, and even the entire Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
