Wenchang Soong Family Ancestral Home
The Soong Family Ancestral Home is located in Gulu Garden Village, Changsa Town, Wenchang City, about 80 kilometers from Haikou City. It sits on a hillside surrounded by fruit trees, with lush greenery and a tranquil environment. A walk of over 100 meters along the shaded village path leads to the ancestral home. The great-grandfather, grandfather, and father of Soong Ching-ling, wife of Dr. Sun Yat-sen and Honorary President of the People's Republic of China, all lived here. Soong Ching-ling’s father, Charlie Soong, was born in this ancestral house in 1861. To commemorate Soong Ching-ling and her family’s historic contributions and far-reaching influence, the Wenchang Municipal People's Government restored the Soong Family Ancestral Home in 1985. With support from the Soong Ching-ling Foundation and friends both in China and abroad, they subsequently built the Soong Ching-ling Exhibition Hall, the Soong Ching-ling Botanical Garden, and erected a 32-meter-tall white marble statue of Soong Ching-ling to the north of the ancestral home. The newly renovated ancestral home is a traditional rural residence, consisting of two main rooms, two wing rooms, two gatehouses, and surrounding walls, covering an area of 1,500 square meters with a building area of 198 square meters. The exhibition hall is located inside, displaying historical materials, photos, charts, paintings, and replicas related to Soong Ching-ling’s youth, revolutionary years, global peace efforts, and tributes from people around the world.

Changsa Town: Changsa Town is located on the eastern coast of Wenchang City, situated along Provincial Highway 203, about 30 kilometers from downtown Wenchang. It is the hometown of the Honorary President of China, Soong Ching-ling, and one of the province’s four major distribution hubs for off-season vegetables. The town covers a total land area of 197 square kilometers, with a coastline of 11.7 kilometers. It includes 78,900 mu of sloping land, 165,900 mu of forested area, and 18,735 mu of cultivated land (including 12,178 mu of paddy fields and 6,557 mu of dry fields).
