Wuzhishan Qiongya Public School Memorial Pavilion

Introduction: Built in 1964. "Qiongya Public School" was founded in the summer of 1940 at the Mehe Base in Chengmai County, with General Feng Baiju as the principal. On December 15, 1940 — the shocking "Mehe Incident" took place, which led to the suspension of "Qiongya Public School." In the spring of 1945, the Qiongya Special Committee set up the school again within the Baisha Anti-Japanese Base, with its campus located in Fulong Township of the county. That autumn, the campus was moved to Nanfeng Market in Dan County. In early 1946, — as part of efforts to seize the fruits of the anti-Japanese war victory, a full-scale civil war was provoked, and "Qiongya Public School" was closed once more, with all trained students joining the military campaign. In June 1948, the Qiongya Special Committee successfully established the Wuzhishan Base. The following spring, "Qiongya Public School" resumed operations in FanYang Town. Qiongya Public School continued its operation until May 1950 when Hainan was liberated, having nurtured and trained over 1,500 revolutionary backbone members.
