The Hetao Courtyard is located within the Kangerlai Ecological Park in Shanba Town, covering a planned area of 115 mu with a total investment of 50 million yuan. The project is divided into two phases and was fully completed by 2010. It is situated 4 kilometers from Shanba Town and spans a surrounding area of 4,000 mu. In recent years, the local government has invested over 10 million yuan to comprehensively plan and develop the Kangerlai Ecological Park, establishing it as a highly influential high-tech agricultural ecological demonstration zone in western China. Key specialty varieties include gift watermelons, muskmelons, multicolored tomatoes, and Dutch bell peppers. We maintain year-round supply relationships with specialty stores and supermarkets. Today, farmers enjoy an average income of over 10,000 yuan per mu, achieving the "half-mu garden, ten-mu field" effect. The western garden is an artificial picking orchard. To allow visitors to enjoy fruit picking and rural fun, a new 150-mu artificial picking orchard has been built, featuring six specialty varieties: snow peaches, grapes, plums, nectarines, apples, and pears. Hardened farm paths wind through the orchard, offering both leisure activities and a taste of rural charm.

The northern garden is an eco-tourism area. This year, Yinchuan East Route Tourism Group has invested 50 million yuan to create China’s “Hetao Courtyard” tourism project here. The project is divided into two phases: the first phase, with an investment of 30 million yuan, will restore historical buildings such as the “New Frontier House” and “Zhongshan Hall,” while also constructing a large-scale hotel integrating dining, accommodation, entertainment, and conference facilities, along with artificial fishponds and greening elements. The second phase will invest 20 million yuan to build a Mongolian camp showcasing Mongolian cultural features. It will also blend Shanxi Jin merchant culture, northern Shaanxi cave dwelling culture, and the cultures of southern and northern Mongolia to construct farmhouses, Beijing siheyuan (courtyard homes), and Jin merchant compounds. Through this project, Kangerlai will be transformed into a modern new farm that integrates historical heritage, agricultural sightseeing, leisure entertainment, catering services, and business conferences—“five in one.” It will be a newly developed tourist attraction with beautiful scenery, comprehensive facilities, matching functions, a fusion of traditional culture and modern trends, and harmony between humans and nature.

To promote the history of the ancient town of Shanba, two famous buildings that once served as the temporary seat of the Suiyuan Provincial Government—the “New Frontier House” and “Zhongshan Hall”—will also be reconstructed here. These were key sites for General Fu Zuoyi’s governmental activities. After reconstruction, the scenic area will become another important patriotic education base for our banner.
