Ulan Buh Desert Sea Lake Tourist Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Ulan Buh Desert, known as "Red Bull" in Mongolian, is one of China’s eight major deserts, covering a total area of nearly 10,000 square kilometers. Its northeastern part extends over 3,370 square kilometers into Bayannur City. Traveling just a few kilometers west from Bayangol allows you to witness the world-famous Ulan Buh Desert.

The Ulan Buh Desert is situated within Bayannur City and Alxa League, stretching north to Langshan Mountain, east near the Yellow River, south to the foothills of Helan Mountain, and west to the Jilantai Salt Lake, covering an approximate total area of 10,000 square kilometers. The vast sea of sand, together with the surging Yellow River, the setting sun in the west, and the smoke rising from village chimneys, creates a three-dimensional scene reminiscent of the poetic line “lonely smoke in the desert rises straight; the setting sun drops round on the endless river.” In the eastern part of the Ulan Buh Desert, where underground water is abundant, sunlight is ample, and terrain is flat, there are nearly a million acres of artificially reclaimed oases. Among them, the shimmering waters of Desert Sea Lake make it an ideal destination for leisure and vacation.

Ulan Buh Desert Sea Lake is located at the easternmost edge of the Ulan Buh Desert—one of China’s eight major deserts—in Situian, Hangjinhouqi, Bayannur City. It borders the majestic Yin Mountains to the north, the mighty Yellow River to the south, the boundless desert to the west, and the beautiful, fertile plains to the east. Extreme sports enthusiasts can drive off-road vehicles up to the top of Hongqi Slope and then descend at a near 90-degree angle to the base of the dunes, experiencing a thrilling and exhilarating drop of over 100 meters.
