Former Site of the Provincial-Hong Kong Strike Reception Center

The former site of the Provincial-Hong Kong Strike Reception Center is located on Nanqing Street in Shenzhen. Originally, it was the Siyue Academy, belonging to the Zhang clan from villages such as Shuibei, Hubei, and Xiangxi. It is a three-bay, two-courtyard ancestral hall built with brick and wood, covering an area of 210 square meters.

On June 19, 1925, the earthshaking Provincial-Hong Kong Strike broke out. The strike involved 250,000 workers, who left Hong Kong and returned to Guangzhou. To better support the striking workers in Hong Kong, the Strike Committee set up this reception center here to assist those returning from Hong Kong to the mainland.

The original appearance of the site has been partially damaged. In 2000, it was relocated to Beimen Street.

In 1988, it was designated as a cultural relic protection unit by the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government.
