"Sea World" was originally a luxury cruise ship built in France, originally named ANCEVELLER. In 1962, it was launched under the French President Charles de Gaulle's ceremonial ribbon-cutting as his exclusive luxury cruise liner. In 1973, China purchased the ship, renamed it the "Minghua," and used it to transport Chinese engineering and technical personnel aiding Tanzania, before it was later leased by an Australian tourism company to launch a maritime tour route. Between 1979–, a delegation visited Japan aboard the "Minghua," and the ship was honored as the "Sino-Japanese Friendship Ship." In 1983, it was moored at Shekou’s Coast Six Bays and internally converted into commercial tourism facilities such as hotels and entertainment venues, becoming China’s first maritime tourism center. In 1984, during his inspection of Shekou, Chinese leader - stayed aboard the "Minghua," and inscribed its name — “Sea World.” It can be said that "Sea World" is not only a witness to the glorious 20-year journey of reform and opening up in Shekou and Shenzhen but also a valuable historical asset of the Special Economic Zone.

This is the birthplace of Shenzhen’s bar culture and is referred to by insiders as Shenzhen’s “Lan Kwai Fong.” On March 30, 1987, a foreigner named Rosa opened a private club-style bar called "Snake Nest" on the ground floor of Yinghui Pavilion on Taizi Road—arguably Shenzhen’s “first bar.” Today, starting from Sea World Plaza and stretching along Taizi Road, Haijing Plaza, Bitao Center, Yinghui Pavilion, Yingzhao Pavilion, all the way to Nanhai Hotel, there are over 40 bars exuding exotic charm from Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas lined up in a row. Every bar and restaurant in Shekou pursues a simple, comfortable, family-like atmosphere, and the food tends toward home-style flavors. Foreigners who have long lived in Shekou treat this place as their hometown. Spend two days here, and you’ll find that going out for late-night snacks at a food stall with fellow workers is only different in form—of course, what you experience here is a uniquely exotic vibe, the real deal; the clothing, language, and decor will make you feel like you’ve entered a whole new world.

The Shekou Sea World bar street is characterized by its crowd of international consumers, giving it a strong exotic flavor. In addition to the original group of long-standing bars, last year saw a concentrated recruitment of many new bars, Western restaurants, and coffee brand stores joining the area, forming an exquisite bar and Western food street right across from the McDonald’s at Sea World. Each shop is small but full of character, with unique drinks and food offerings. Surrounding these small Western-style bars and eateries are popular dining spots among white-collar workers such as Brazilian BBQ and Greek-style eateries.

The bar street covers an area of 12,000 square meters, with a construction area of 5,500 square meters. It adopts a European sunken plaza design, and the enclosed space provides a relaxed social setting, leisure, entertainment, and humanized spaces for interaction, filling the entire commercial area with a rich exotic cultural ambiance. Transportation: By bus from Luohu: Take K204 or 204, getting off at the “Sea World” stop; N4 (night bus, running 23:30–1:00 between the train station and Sea World). From the airport: Take 355 directly to “Sea World.”
