Qiyun Study Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Guangdong Province.

Qiyun Study Hall: A cultural relic protection unit of Guangdong Province, located within Xixiang Primary School in Lequn Community, Xixiang Subdistrict, Bao’an District. It was built in the 11th year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1885) by the patriotic overseas Chinese Zheng Yao from Hong Kong and was renovated in 2009. The building faces south. The original structure was composed of a front, middle, and rear hall, an eastern book tower, a western boat hall, a bright tower, a kitchen, a well, and more, covering an area of over 3,000 square meters, making it the largest private study hall building in the Bao’an area. The existing structure follows a three-bay, three-courtyard layout, consisting of the front, middle, and rear halls along with two corridors. It features a brick-and-wood structure. On both sides of the main gate are tutor platforms, and the wooden plaque above the door is inscribed with “Qiyun Study Hall.” The roof frame combines the through-tenon and raised-beam styles, with carved wooden beam heads, bracket arms, and spandrels. It has a flush-gable roof, grey-plastered antique-style ridge, red roof tiles, and blue-glazed tile end caps. The entire building uses high-quality materials, showcases exquisite construction craftsmanship, and features outstanding wood and stone carvings, providing valuable physical material for the study of Bao’an’s study hall architecture and educational history. In December 2015, it was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Guangdong Province by the People’s Government of Guangdong Province.
