The Bao'an Wen Tianxiang Memorial Hall is located in Fenghuang Community, Fuyong Subdistrict, Bao'an District. Over 90% of the residents in Fenghuang Community bear the surname Wen. Fenghuang Ancient Village, which serves as a branch venue for the Cultural Industries Fair, was built by Wen Yinglin, who was adopted by Wen Tianxiang’s younger brother Wen Bi as his own son. Since Wen Tianxiang had no sons, for over 700 years the Wen clan has regarded themselves as his descendants. The family temple and Wen Tower they built are all related to Wen Tianxiang. Today, standing atop Phoenix Mountain, one can take in the vast expanse of Lingdingyang. The timeless line left by Wen Tianxiang when he passed through here — “Since ancient times, who has not died? Let me leave a loyal heart to shine in the annals of history” — has become an eternal masterpiece. To commemorate this historic figure, it was decided last year during discussions among the Wen clan to build the Wen Tianxiang Memorial Hall next to the ancient tower as part of the Wen Tower Park project.

Wen Tianxiang, the top scholar of the Southern Song Dynasty, styled himself Songrui and was also known as Wenshan. He was born in 1236 in Futian Village, Chunhua Township, Luling (now southern Ji’an, Jiangxi) into a landlord family. His father loved reading and placed great importance on his children’s education, hiring renowned teachers for them. Regardless of the season, Wen Tianxiang would study, write, and discuss history and philosophy with his younger brother in a study filled with maxims and aphorisms.

At the age of 18, Wen Tianxiang ranked first in the Luling township school examination. Fenghuang Community: Covering a total area of 9.80 square kilometers, Fenghuang Community has 4.5 square kilometers of developable land, with 5.3 km² falling within the basic ecological control line — mainly consisting of Fenghuang Mountain Forest Park, Wushan Reservoir, and Qilake Reservoir. There are 2.07 hectares of basic farmland within the ecological control zone. Fenghuang Community is currently the largest community in Fuyong Subdistrict, comprising 18 resident groups.
