The Tomb of Chen Chaoju is a cultural relic protection unit of Bao’an District.

Tomb of Chen Chaoju: A cultural relic protection unit of Bao’an District, located on the northeast side of the intersection of Dongyue Road and Xiyuan Road in Yabian Community, Shajing Subdistrict, Bao’an District. It faces southwest and was originally built during the Southern Song Dynasty, with renovations carried out in the 13th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1748). The tomb is designed in the shape of an “armchair,” consisting of the main burial mound, a two-tiered worship platform, and a crescent-shaped pond. It measures 26 meters in length and 12 meters in width. Built with bluestone, it features a bluestone tablet niche, and the tombstone is inscribed with “Tomb of Madame Yan, the Honored Consort of Mr. Chen Ye Wang, the Late Song Dynasty’s Senior Official.” Chen Chaoju (1134–1213), whose given name was Kongshuo and courtesy name Chaoju, also known as Ye Wang, was a Jinshi (successful imperial examination candidate) during the Chunxi era of the Song Dynasty and was appointed as a Senior Official. To escape warfare, he migrated southward from Luoyang, initially settling in Zhujixiang, Nanxiong, before establishing his family home in Yongkou Li, Guidechang, Dongguan. His descendants are spread across areas such as Shajing, Chenwu in Fuyong, Yanchuan in Songgang, He’ao in Henggang, Longgang, and Dongguan. In March 1999, the Bao’an District People’s Government designated it as a cultural relic protection unit of Bao’an District.
