Zhi Xi Family School: A cultural heritage site protected by Shenzhen Municipality, located at the intersection of Beidi Road and Cunqian Road, Bao’an District, Shajing Subdistrict, near Bao’an, Shenzhen. It was built in the 44th year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1908) by Chen Zhi Xi, a Vietnamese Chinese immigrant from Bao’an. The structure faces northeast and is situated southwest. It follows a three-bay, three-courtyard layout, consisting of a front and rear hall, two corridors, and a rear building. The building is 13 meters wide and 33 meters deep, covering a total area of 429 square meters. It features a brick-and-timber structure with exposed brick walls. The stone plaque above the entrance door is inscribed with “Zhi Xi Family School,” with the upper inscription reading “Autumn Month, Glorious Day, 44th Year of Guangxu (1908)” and the lower signature “Respectfully written by Chen Minzhang of Shunde.” The rear building is a two-story structure with a hip-and-gable roof, featuring wok-handle-style firewalls and a rolled shed roof. It has a flush gable roof, decorative plaster ridges in antique designs, and red clay tiles. It is the earliest existing overseas Chinese building in Bao’an District and holds significant importance for the study of the history of local overseas Chinese development. In December 2014, it was designated as a cultural heritage site of Bao’an District by the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government.
