The Shajing Oyster Processing Plant is a cultural heritage site under the protection of Bao’an District.

Shajing Oyster Processing Plant: A cultural heritage site under the protection of Bao’an District, located behind the Hao San Aquatic Products Comprehensive Market in Hao San Community, Shajing Subdistrict, Bao’an District. It was built and put into operation in 1955. The plant faces southeast and is situated to the northwest. It has a brick-and-wood structure, and houses oyster-boiling rooms, engine rooms, drying workshops, and sunning areas, covering an area of 350 square meters. There are a total of five oyster-boiling stove platforms with chimneys extending through the roof. The plant is equipped with five large oyster-boiling pots, in front of which there are wooden racks and basins for cooling oysters, as well as a coal pit behind the stoves. Its daily production and processing capacity reached 500 dan (a traditional unit of measurement) of cooked oysters, making it the largest oyster processing plant in Guangdong Province at the time. In September 2010, it was designated as a cultural heritage site under the protection of Bao’an District by the People’s Government of Bao’an District.

Hao San Community is located in the western part of Shajing, covering an area of approximately 1.1 square kilometers, with a registered resident population of 700 people, 629 registered shareholders, and nearly 20,000 migrant residents. During urbanization, based on the former Hao San Village, the Hao San Joint Stock Cooperative Company was established on June 25, 2004, and the Party Branch and Residents’ Committee of Hao San Community were officially inaugurated on July 30.
