King Pan Ancient Temple

King Pan Ancient Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Located in Woshui Township, 27 kilometers southwest of Liannan County, this site is regarded by the Yao people as their ancestral village. The road from Liannan County to Woshui is lined with lush forests, terraced mountains, cascading rivers, and layered high-altitude rice terraces, offering breathtaking scenery.

The King Pan Ancient Temple is located at the junction of Huangjiachong and Liulianshui. Originally built over 1,300 years ago, the current structure was reconstructed several years ago. The temple is surrounded by high mountains, atop which are rows of Yao villages (also known as "Yao Pairs") built along the slopes, encircling the King Pan Temple. The Yao people frequently come to the temple to worship their ancestors, and every three to five years, they organize a large-scale "Singing Festival" event to honor the gods.

In front of the King Pan Ancient Temple stands a century-old acacia tree, lush and covered year-round with red beans. The Yao people regard the red beans from this tree as sacred objects, collecting them to place before their family altars for protection and peace. Remarkably, the acacia tree can also predict the weather: when there is a prolonged drought, if the leaves turn from green to black, it indicates rain will come the next day; when there is extended rainy weather, if the leaves turn from green to red, the skies will soon clear—its predictions are said to be very accurate.
