Lilin Shuikou Pagoda

Lilin Shuikou Pagoda is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Shuikou Pagoda was built during the Ming Dynasty and is located in Lilin Village Group, Lilin Village Committee, Shitang Town, adjacent to the Tongyang Stream. The pagoda has a hexagonal floor plan and is a seven-story hollow brick structure with a flat terrace and pavilion-style design, standing 18.6 meters tall. The pagoda features an elegant and graceful form with well-proportioned structure. However, due to ground subsidence, the pagoda leans approximately 80 centimeters to the southeast. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Shuikou Pagoda received care and support from governments at all levels and the general public. In June 1989, it was designated as a County-Level Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit by the Renhua County People’s Government. In 2005, the pagoda underwent restoration while retaining its original tilt.

It stands impressively across southern Guangdong and is known as the site of the “Shuangfeng Defense Battle,” the greatest battle among peasant uprisings following the Haifeng-Lufeng Uprising—thus it has been listed as a Provincial Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit, as well as a Provincial, Municipal, and County-level Patriotic Education Base.
