Dongquan Academy

Dongquan Academy. Located in Dongtang Market Town, this Qing Dynasty building features a brick-and-wood structure. During the Great Revolution period, it served as the headquarters of the Executive Committee of the Fifth District Peasant Association and the garrison of the Fifth District Peasant Self-Defense Army. In the early stages of the Agrarian Revolutionary War, it was the military command post when - and Chen Yi led the remaining forces of the Nanchang Uprising to Dongtang twice, as well as the headquarters of the Fourth Independent Regiment of the Workers’ and Peasants’ Revolutionary Army and the site of the Fifth District Soviet Government.

Dongtang Town: 1. Geographic Location: Dongtang Town is located 12 kilometers southwest of Renhua County. It administers 16 village committees, 1 neighborhood committee, and 196 village groups. In 1979, it was known as Dongtang Town People’s Commune and was renamed Dongtang Town in 1983. It borders Renhua Town to the east, Hongshan Town to the north, Lechang City to the west, and Qujiang District to the south, covering a total area of 192.8 square kilometers, including 29,500 mu of arable land.
